Wacker Neuson introduces new generation of compact light towers

LTN 6 Light TowerWacker Neuson is launching a new series of light towers that incorporates a sleek, durable design, quieter operation and excellent lighting features.  The new LTN 6 (Light Tower Narrow body, 6 kW generator) with its compact design takes up less room on the job site and/or in the rental yard, plus reduces freight costs by allowing 12 units to be transported on a truck load.

“Our new narrow light towers offer a revolutionary look,” says Marc Leupi, utility product manager for Wacker Neuson.  “The housing has been changed from the box metal style to a unique streamlined curved designed made from a high impact plastic.  This material is incredibly durable.  It’s virtually dent and rust proof, which extends the life of the unit, especially in the harsh elements.”  Leupi continues, “These units are easier than ever to service.  As part of the new housing, the doors on both sides extend the full length of the unit providing for easy and complete service access.”

Borrowing from the automotive industry, the LTN 6 is the first light tower to utilize a stamped 10-guage steel tub which provides superior strength and full protection from ground debris.  “The fully enclosed bottom is also key to reducing sound emissions,” says Leupi.  “The LTN 6 sound level is as low as 67 dBA at 23 feet which is an impressive number when you consider the industry average is over 70 dBA.”  This steel tub and all of the other metal surfaces including the inner mast sections and outriggers are protected by durable powder coat paint, and all external hardware is zinc dichromate treated for extreme rust resistance.

Wacker Neuson’s light towers come equipped with distinctive elliptical light fixtures which offer a diffused and even illumination without glare.  The lights can be manually adjusted without tools.  The light fixtures come preinstalled at the factory, reducing setup time.  Two EPA emission compliant interim Tier 4 engines are available.  The LTN 6L offers a 13.4-hp Lombardini diesel engine that operates at a quiet, best in class, 67 dBA at 23 feet.  The LTN 6C is powered by a 15.3-hp Caterpillar diesel engine and operates at 68 dBA at 23 feet.  Both models are offered with a 6 kW generator, large capacity, 32-gallon fuel tank for up to 68 hours of run time and the 30-foot adjustable tower also rotates 360-degrees for light adjustment once the mast is raised.  The mast mounted base winch improves operator ergonomics by allowing the operator to raise the mast without bending.  Wacker Neuson’s light towers are available with manual or power winch and a fully equipped highway ready trailer with torsional axle for superior towing and rough terrain handling.

The trailer draw bar can be fully connected or disconnected with three bolts for storage and can be removed and stored as a theft deterrent at the job site.  Wacker Neuson’s light towers come standard with a 120V, 20 amp duplex receptacle for powering small tools, lights, etc.  Because the generator is wired in parallel, it provides full 120V output, maximizing the available power for small tools, especially when the lights are on.

Wacker Neuson’s light towers are assembled at the company’s new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Norton Shores, Michigan.  This new 168,500 square foot facility was recently opened to accommodate the production of Wacker Neuson’s Climate Technology products (formally Ground Heaters) the light tower line.

E 700M Delivers the Heat for Bickhardt Bau Bridge Restoration Projects

A two-part synthetic resin used to protect concrete on bridges from corrosion requires a minimum structure temperature of 41° F to properly work. When subfreezing winter temperatures stopped work on a bridge restoration project, Bickhardt Bau used the E 700M to quickly heat the structure above minimum temperatures, keeping the job on schedule.

Rather than running ductwork to use the old standby of indirect-fired heaters for heating a 1.78 million ft3 underground potable water tank, John Grahams chose the clean, dry heat offered by the Wacker Neuson Pureheat system. In doing so, Grahams realized a fuel savings of over $1,000 per 72 hours of use.
