When the I-35W Mississippi River Bridge in Minneapolis collapsed in August 2007, very few could have imagined that a new bridge would be open to traffic just 13 short months later. Flatiron-Manson, Joint Venture, took charge and used many time-saving techniques to finish bridge construction in September 2008, three months ahead of schedule. Among the tools used were four E3000 Ground Heater units from Wacker Neuson to cure concrete during the cold winter months.  more

When unforeseen scheduling issues postponed concrete bridge deck pours on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge to the winter months, Potomac Constructors, LLC had few options for properly curing the concrete. One consideration, delaying the pours for warmer weather, was not an option, as the contractor faced a $50,000 per-day disincentive by not adhering to the schedule. Costs for the typical tarp and underneath heating solution ranged in the several millions of dollars and offered no guarantees, so the contractor turned to an ingenious curing solution offered by the Wacker Neuson E3000.  more
